Inflation Calculator
Use the Vextor Capital inflation calculator to estimate how inflation may change purchasing power, future prices and real value over time using a starting amount, inflation assumption and time horizon.
Reader notice: This inflation calculator is educational only. It does not provide investment advice, cost-of-living forecasts, tax advice, retirement advice, budgeting advice or a guarantee of future prices.
Calculate an inflation estimate
Enter an amount, inflation assumption and time horizon. The calculator estimates a future equivalent price and the real purchasing power of the starting amount after inflation.
Results are estimates based on a steady annual inflation assumption. They do not include category differences, taxes, wage changes, exchange rates, regional differences or changes in personal spending.
Chart shows estimated future equivalent price using the selected annual inflation assumption.
| Year | Future equivalent price | Purchasing power of starting amount | Cumulative price increase |

How the inflation calculator works
The calculator uses a steady annual inflation assumption. It estimates how much money may be needed in the future to match the purchasing power of today’s amount, and it estimates the future real value of today’s amount after inflation.
Future equivalent price = Starting amount × (1 + annual inflation rate) ^ years
Purchasing power after inflation = Starting amount ÷ (1 + annual inflation rate) ^ years
Starting amount
The starting amount is the current nominal value used as the base of the estimate.
Inflation assumption
The annual inflation rate is a simplified assumption. Actual inflation can be higher, lower, uneven or negative.
Future equivalent price
This estimates how much future money may be needed to match the purchasing power of the starting amount.
Real value estimate
This estimates how much purchasing power the starting amount may retain after inflation over the selected period.
What this inflation calculator does not include
Inflation is not experienced equally by every reader. Official inflation measures are broad indexes, while personal inflation depends on geography, housing, energy, food, healthcare, education, transport and spending patterns.
No category-specific inflation
The estimate does not model separate inflation rates for housing, food, energy, healthcare, education, insurance or transport.
No wage adjustment
The estimate does not include wage growth, pension adjustments, tax changes, salary changes or income changes.
No exchange-rate effects
Currency display does not convert exchange rates or reflect cross-border purchasing power changes.
No official forecast
The output is based on the reader’s selected assumption. It is not an official inflation projection or central bank forecast.
How to use this calculator responsibly
Use the inflation calculator to understand relationships between money, time and purchasing power. Do not use one inflation assumption as a complete financial planning model.
Test multiple assumptions
Compare lower, central and higher inflation assumptions to understand scenario sensitivity.
Check official data
Use national statistical offices, central banks and international data sources for actual inflation history.
Separate general from personal
A headline inflation index may not match a household’s actual spending pattern or location.
Connect to real returns
Inflation affects real investment returns, real savings value, purchasing power and long-term financial planning.
This tool is not financial planning advice
Vextor Capital does not use this inflation calculator to recommend investments, savings rates, retirement strategies, account choices, tax decisions, mortgage decisions or spending decisions. The output is an educational estimate based only on the numbers entered.
Personal investment, tax, legal, retirement, mortgage, insurance, credit and financial planning questions may require qualified professional advice.
No investment instruction
The result does not tell readers how to invest, hedge, save, spend, borrow, retire or allocate assets.
No personal cost forecast
The calculator does not know a reader’s housing, energy, food, healthcare, education or transport costs.
No guaranteed inflation path
Inflation can rise, fall, pause, reverse, differ by country or differ by spending category.
No complete plan
The calculator is not a retirement plan, investment plan, budget, tax model or personal financial plan.
Useful sources for inflation research
Readers can use official and authoritative data sources to verify inflation, consumer prices, purchasing power, macroeconomic context and central bank policy.
